Icon of Belgian and world motorsport, Jacky Ickx will honour us with his presence for the first edition of the “Rally 4 Porsche”.
The man known as “Mr. Le Mans”, because of his 6 victories in the Sarthe, will be present at the finish of our ride tour on Saturday 8 October on the Grand Place in Huy before taking part in the “911” and “959” evenings.
It is therefore not too late to take advantage of such a presence and register for our ride tour and/or our evenings.
The Rally 4 Porsche will be held for the first time in just under sixty days. For those who are not yet aware, the event will, as its name indicates, be reserved for participants with a Porsche. However, the organisers are not being sectarian and will welcome both “all-rear” and “mid-engine” cars as well as “front-engine” cars! There is no need to worry: if you do not want to race, there will be a regularity event over the same route as the speed rally, as well as a route which will take you to Stavelot. There will be something for everyone, we assure you!
The event having already been the subject of a specific presentation (which you can find on the website www.r4p.be, and which can be consulted in English, French and Dutch) by way of an aperitif, it is time for the main course, the rally! We already know that it has attracted a great deal of interest and that some are already impatient to fight for the honour – the privilege! – of being crowned “best Porsche rally driver”.
To do this, it will be necessary to avoid all the pitfalls of an event “for big boys” (although naturally girls are also welcome!) about which the organisers are full of praise: “We had set ourselves quite a few conditions, notably that of not imposing ourselves on certain local residents with the passage of two events a few weeks apart,” begins Julien Frère, the project manager. “And we are proud to have practically succeeded, with the exception of two small kilometres, only one of which is bordered by a few houses. It was not easy, however, and the municipal administrations of Huy, Wanze, Clavier and Somme-Leuze must in particular be thanked for their collaboration, because they have enabled us to turn many of our ideas for the route into reality!”
In detail (but not too much all the same!), Yves Matton and his associates have managed to create a special show in … Solières, even though the surroundings of this charming village are well known to all rally fans! Let us point out a place which will undoubtedly gather all the public’s votes thanks to a “first”: a hyper-spectacular section in the… car park of the famous Moulin de Solières!
Stéphane Lhonnay, responsible for the route, is no less proud of the second special stage: “In fact, we have received the unconditional support of the village of Huccorgne, which has never before hosted a special stage, even though there are a great many enthusiasts among its inhabitants. Their pleasure will be increased tenfold when they know that this is also a special show stage. And that of the competitors too, with, in particular, a very tight left-hand hairpin near the village church and the local school which will require drivers to use the handbrake if they want to avoid a time-consuming “manoeuvre”.
Finally, the R4P team has not lacked skill in Clavier, mixing portions formerly used by other events to create a special stage of almost 15 kilometres presenting a particularly representative range of all the types of surface which can be found there! And something tells us that the public will have very much enjoy the fast but safe section around the Château de Vervoz …
This is a quality menu, we agree, for a route which will be composed of three loops of three special stages plus a fourth passage in Solières, totalling 341 kilometres, 110 of which will be timed!
The first competitors will leave the start area, located on the Avenue Delchambre in Huy, on Sunday at 08.00, while the prize-giving ceremony will take place on the Grand’Place in Huy at 19.30.
De Rally 4 Porsche, beleeft zijn eerste editie over iets minder dan zestig dagen. Voor diegenen die het nog niet weten, is dit nieuwe evenement, zoals de naam het doet vermoeden, gereserveerd voor deelnemers met een Porsche. De organisatoren verwelkomen evenwel alle types van motoren (vooraan, achteraan of centraal) En… voor de gelukkige Porsche-eigenaars die geen zin hebben om te racen, is er naast de snelheidsrally op hetzelfde parkoers ook een regelmatigheidsproef en een rit die de deelnemers tot in Stavelot brengt. Je merkt het kortom, voor elk wat wils.
Het specifieke van de rit presenteerden we als aperitief op het hoofdgerecht, de rally, al eerder en alle gegevens daarover kan u zowel in het Engels, het Frans als het Nederlands vinden op de website : www.r4p.be Intussen merken we ook de interesse voor deze rally en horen we dat sommigen reeds ongeduldig zijn om te strijden voor de eer – en dat is een voorrecht ! – om gekroond te worden tot « beste Porsche-rijder in de rallysport« .
Om dat te realiseren, zullen dan wel alle valkuilen van het parkoers « voor grote jongens » (al zijn uiteraard ook meisjes welkom!) waarover de organisatoren vol lof zijn, vermeden moeten worden: « We hadden onszelf niet veel voorwaarden gesteld, want we wilden voorkomen dat bepaalde bewoners met een tussenpauze van enkele weken niet twee keer gehinderd werden. vertelt projectmanager Julien Frère. En we zijn er trots op dat dit – op uitzondering van amper twee kilometer waarvan er één begrensd wordt door enkele huizen – ook praktisch gelukt is. Dat was evenwel niet gemakkelijk en in het bijzonder moeten we daarvoor ook de gemeentebesturen van Hoei, Wanze, Clavier en Somme-Leuze bedanken. Dankzij hun medewerking, konden de door ons bedachte passages ook effectief in realiteit omgezet worden!
Zonder al veel meer details prijs te geven, kunnen we nu reeds verklappen dat Yves Matton en zijn medewerkers in Solières – het charmante dorpje dat ook bekend is bij de rallyfans –
een ongekende show uitgewerkt hebben. In primeur willen we alvast één plaats aanwijzen die ongetwijfeld op veel enthousiasme van het publiek zal onthaald worden : een hyper- spectaculaire passage op de parkeerplaats van de beroemde Moulin de Solières !
Stéphane Lhonnay, verantwoordelijk voor het parkoers, is echter niet minder trots op de tweede proef: « Inderdaad, door de onvoorwaardelijke steun van het dorp Huccorgne, waar
niettegenstaande er veel rallyfans wonen, op dat grondgebied tot dusver nog nooit een klassementsproef georganiseerd werd. Hun plezier wordt nu zelfs vertienvoudigd omdat het bovendien een bijzondere show zal worden. Ook de deelnemers zullen daarvan genieten o.a. in de zeer krappe linker haarspeld in de buurt van de dorpskerk en de gemeenteschool, waar ze de handrem moeten gebruiken, tenminste als… ze niet willen « manoeuvreren« !
Ten slotte etaleerde het R4P-team in Clavier ook hun ervaring door er porties die vroeger reeds door andere evenementen gebruikt werden te mixen in een proef van bijna 15 km met verder een bijzonder representatief aanbod van alle types wegen die ter plaatse te vinden zijn ! En iets zegt ons dat het publiek alvast zeer enthousiast zal zijn voor de snelle maar veilige passage rond het kasteel van Vervoz. Kortom een kwaliteitsmenu, daar zijn we het nu al over eens, voor een parcours dat zal bestaan uit drie lussen van drie klassementsproeven plus een vierde passage door Solières, voor in totaal 341 km, waarvan 110 km tegen de klok !
De eerste deelnemers zullen zondag om 08u00 de startplaats, aan de Avenue Delchambre in Hoei, verlaten, terwijl de prijsuitreiking om 19u30 zal plaatsvinden op de Grote Markt van Hoei.
Organisation inédite, le Rally 4 Porsche vivra sa première édition dans un peu moins de soixante jours à présent. Pour celles et ceux qui ne seraient pas encore au courant, la manifestation sera, comme son nom l’indique, réservée aux seuls participants alignant une Porsche. Mais pas de sectarisme chez les organisateurs qui accueilleront tant les « tout à l’arrière » que les « moteurs centraux » ou les « moteurs avant » ! Et que les heureux propriétaires se rassurent : s’ils n’ont pas envie de « faire la course », il y aura, à côté du rallye de vitesse, une épreuve de régularité qui empruntera le même parcours mais aussi une balade qui emmènera, elle, les participants jusqu’à Stavelot. Pour tous les goûts, on vous dit !
La balade ayant déjà fait l’objet d’une présentation spécifique (que vous pouvez retrouver sur le site www.r4p.be consultable en anglais, français et néerlandais) en guise d’apéritif, place cette fois au plat de résistance, le rallye ! Dont on sait déjà qu’il attise les convoitises et que certains sont déjà impatients de se battre pour l’honneur – le privilège ! – d’être sacré « meilleur pilote Porsche en rallye ».
Pour cela, il faudra éviter toutes les embûches d’un parcours « pour grands garçons » (mais les filles sont, bien entendu, les bienvenues!) à propos duquel les organisateurs ne tarissent pas d’éloges : « On s’était fixé pas mal de conditions, notamment celle de ne pas imposer à certains riverains le passage de deux épreuves à quelques semaines d’intervalle », entame Julien Frère, le project manager. « Et nous sommes fiers d’y être pratiquement parvenus, à l’exception de deux petits kilomètres dont un seul est borné de quelques maisons. Ce ne fut pourtant pas simple et les administrations communales de Huy, Wanze, Clavier et Somme-Leuze doivent être ici spécialement remerciées pour leur collaboration parce qu’elles nous ont permis de transférer dans la réalité bon nombre d’endroits auxquels nous avions pensé ! »
Dans le détail (mais pas trop, quand même !), Yves Matton et ses associés sont parvenus à tracer une spéciale show inédite à… Solières alors même que les abords de ce charmant village sont archi-connus de tous les fans de rallye ! Pointons déjà un endroit qui recueillera sans doute tous les suffrages du public grâce à une « première » : un passage hyper-spectaculaire dans le… parking du célébrissime Moulin de Solières !
Stéphane Lhonnay, responsable du parcours, n’est pas moins fier de la deuxième spéciale : « En effet, nous avons reçu le soutien inconditionnel du village de Huccorgne qui n’avait jamais, jusqu’ici, accueilli d’étape spéciale sur son territoire alors même qu’il y a un grand nombre de passionnés parmi ses habitants. Leur plaisir sera décuplé quand ils sauront qu’il s’agit aussi d’une spéciale show. Et celui des concurrents également avec, notamment, une épingle gauche très serrée aux abords de l’église du village et de l’école communale qui nécessitera l’usage du frein à main s’ils ne veulent pas « manoeuvrer » ! »
Enfin, l’équipe R4P n’a pas manqué d’habileté à Clavier pour mixer des portions jadis empruntées par d’autres épreuves et obtenir une spéciale en ligne de près de 15 km présentant un éventail particulièrement représentatif de tous les types de terrains qu’on peut trouver sur place ! Et quelque chose nous dit que le public aura un petit faible pour le passage rapide mais sécurisé aux abords du château de Vervoz…
Un menu de qualité, on en conviendra, pour un parcours qui sera composé de trois boucles de trois spéciales plus un quatrième passage à Solières, totalisant 341 km dont 110 face au chrono !
Les premiers concurrents quitteront le parc de départ, situé Avenue Delchambre à Huy, le dimanche dès 8h00 tandis que la remise des prix aura lieu sur la Grand’Place de Huy à 19h30.
On October 8th and 9th, Huy will live on Stuttgart time. Throughout the weekend, the Porsche brand will be omnipresent in and around the city at the Meuse river, with a rally and a regularity test which will take place on Sunday. On Saturday, there will also be an impressive tour, for which the organizers have already concocted a five-star menu!
Competition, regularity or tour: there will be something for everyone, at the beginning of October in Huy. And although a rally exclusively reserved for Porsche cars is absolutely unique, we already know that the Porsche by R4P-tour will mark the spirits, too.
Have a look at this: after having lined up their beautiful German machinery on Avenue Delchambre and after enjoying a gourmet breakfast, the participants will set off at their leisure, from 10 AM, for a first stage of around one hundred kilometres. It will take them to Stavelot, over roads in good condition and through carefully selected valleys. After the lunch break, the return drive of around 130 kilometres will pass Namur, through a region which also has some nice surprises in store.
« Obviously, we will not reveal everything just yet, but the objective is that the Porsche drivers will keep a lasting memory of this event », says Romuald Honnay, the well-known head of ‘The Cabana Team’, known for its exploits during the Condroz Rally and a specialist in tourist tours. “We did not want to bore the participants with a complicated or difficult route. It is not a contest, and not a quiz either. On the other hand, there will be a simple but clear roadbook, including a whole series of nice viewpoints, remarkable places, heritage sites, etc… where the participants will be able to make a short stopover if they want to. This is a real tourist tour, let there be no doubt about that!”
But the clientele of Porsche consists, probably more than any other, out of real enthusiasts: “That is also the reason the lunch break will be held at the Abbaye de Stavelot. A walking dinner will be offered to everyone, as well as entry to the Spa-Francorchamps museum, which, as everyone knows, is located in these superb buildings. Participants will have plenty of time to enjoy a visit before leaving for the afternoon drive, with the arrival in Huy being scheduled at 6 PM. Good to know: this return drive will end by using the roads of one of the special stages that the competitors of the Rally will cover the next day!”
And there is no need to end such a wonderful day there and then! Those who wish can participate in the Porsche 959-evening, which will take place in the facilities of MY Vintage, or in the 911-barbecue dinner, which will take place in the centre of Huy!
As icing on the cake: this enticing program is offered, all inclusive (except evenings), at the democratic price of €180 per car (2 occupants). For each additional passenger €50 will be requested. On 8 and 9 October 2022, the first edition of an event entirely dedicated to Porsches will take place in the region around Huy. It will be divided into four versions: a speed rally, a regularity event, a tour and a co-driving event. This will allow everyone, be they Belgian or foreign, to live their passion for the emblematic German marque!
In the collective unconscious, the Porsche marque is one of the two or three most likely to be mentioned as soon as the conversation turns to sports cars or motor sport.
The idea of devoting a road event to it (as opposed to the many track events on offer) remained for a few years solely in the heads of two friends, until they came across an attentive ear, a real trigger. The snowball effect was immediate and, in a short time, a series of enthusiasts, all involved in motor sport and led by well-known personalities such as Yves Matton and Jean-Marc Fortin, decided to join forces to launch a concept which, although not exactly original, is at least 100% original in its “quadruple” variation.
“We wanted to address all Porsche drivers, including foreigners as the event will be Open, and to welcome all Porsches, from the 356 to the 992, via the 914 and the front engine models, whether they are prepared for competition or simply in series production,” begins Julien Frère, project manager. “And to offer them the opportunity to express themselves in a road event in the most appropriate way for each of them. Some will prefer an authentic speed rally, organised in collaboration with the “Écurie NEW Racing”; others will take part in the regularity event organised by one of the masters in the field, Yves Noelanders, while those who do not have a competition-prepared car will have the choice between a tour or the co-driving event, which will be a perfect opportunity to do a good deed for a charity.”
The project literally “hit the nail on the head” in Huy: “As soon as Julien told me about it, I was seduced,”explains Yves Matton, the famous “attentive ear”! “Everybody knew that I wanted to get involved in “my” region. This Rally 4 Porsche – Huy came at just the right time. I contacted several friends who were all enthusiastic and, above all, the town of Huy decided to give us its support by agreeing to host the nerve centre of the event, with the onus on us to ensure perfect collaboration with local residents.”
Ultimately, the most complex challenge was to find a date! “We have only been discussing the project for a few weeks. There are regulations to follow and deadlines to meet. The aftermath of the pandemic is still very much with us. With already very busy schedules, the date of 8 and 9 October 2022 will only be for this first edition to take place this year: the events in future years will be held earlier in the year, in the spring or during the summer,”said the former FIA rally director before adding, “Having said that, we have made sure that our event does not interfere in any way with the Belgian championship or the ASAF championship where it is registered. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the members and the organisers for the warm welcome we received!”
Although it is still a little early to reveal exactly what is on the menu, you should know that the speed rally will cover between 100 and 120 kilometres of special stages in the Condroz and Hesbaye; the regularity event, with the VHRS label (vehicules historiques de régularité sportive – historic regularity sports cars), will follow the same course but with averages of 50 and 65 kph; the tour (on open roads and in strict compliance with the highway code) will take the participants to discover the Condroz without taking in the rally stages and with a quality stopover at lunchtime, and the charity co-driving event will allow them to discover the Huy region. Last but not least, in each of the four variations of the event, there will be a quality prize to be won, each time in line with the theme of that particular category.
Op 8 en 9 oktober zal Hoei – waar het merk Porsche het ganse weekend alomtegenwoordig zal zijn – op het ritme van Stuttgart draaien met een snelheidsrally en een regelmatigheidsproef die op zondag zullen plaatsvinden. Maar vanaf zaterdag wordt er in en om de Maasstad ook een rondrit georganiseerd en daarvoor hebben de organisatoren alvast een vijfsterrenmenu samengesteld !
Competitie, regularity of een rit, begin oktober is er in Hoei voor elk wat wils. En… hoewel een rally-evenement gereserveerd voor Porsche uniek is, weten we nu al dat dit eveneens de Porsche by R4P-rit zal typeren.
Dat wordt duidelijk als je weet dat nadat de prachtige Duitse bolides zich zullen opstellen op de Avenue Delchambre en de deelnemers er genieten van een gastronomisch ontbijt. Vanaf 10u00 is er dan vrij vertrek voor een eerste etappe van ongeveer honderd kilometer. Die eerste lus brengt hen – op wegen in goede staat en via zorgvuldig uitgekozen valleien – tot in Stavelot. Na de middagpauze gaat de terugreis via Namen. En…ook tijdens die tweede etappe van ongeveer 130 kilometer, heeft die regio nog enkele leuke verrassingen in petto.
« We gaan nu uiteraard nog niet alles verklappen, maar ons objectief is dat de Porschisten zich dit event blijvend zullen herinneren« , vertelt Romuald Honnay, het boegbeeld van het « la cabana team » bekend van de Condroz rally maar tevens een specialist in toeristische ritten. Ons uitgangspunt is om de deelnemers niet te vervelen met een ingewikkeld of moeilijk parcours. Het is trouwens geen wedstrijd of een quiz. In tegendeel, het roadbook zal duidelijk maar ook simpel zijn en tevens tal van opmerkelijke plaatsen, erfgoed of leuke bezienswaardigheden aangeven, waar de deelnemers indien ze dat wensen zelfs een korte pauze kunnen inlassen om ervan te genieten. Kortom duidelijk een echte toeristische rit !
Maar de Porsche-klanten zijn wellicht nog meer dan alle andere autoliefhebbers ook echte enthousiastelingen. Daarom kozen we voor een lunchpauze in de Abdij van Stavelot. We bieden er iedereen een walking dinner aan, evenals toegang tot het museum van Spa-Francorchamps dat, zoals iedereen weet, in deze schitterende gebouwen gehuisvest is. De deelnemers krijgen bovendien voldoende tijd om daarvan te genieten voordat ze er in de namiddag terug naar Hoei vertrekken, waar de aankomst omstreeks 18u00 voorzien is. Leuk om te weten is tot slot dat op het einde van dat tweede deel de deelnemers ook passeren op één van de klassementsproeven die daags nadien gebruikt worden tijdens de snelheidsrally !
Die prachtige dag kan voor wie dat wenst nadien trouwens nog verdergezet worden, door deel te nemen aan de Porsche 959-avond die zal plaatsvinden in de gebouwen van MY Vintage en/of aan het 911 barbecuediner dat zal plaatsvinden in het centrum van Huy !
Als kers op de taart wordt dit aantrekkelijke programma aangeboden, alles inbegrepen (behalve ‘s avonds), aan de democratische prijs van 180€ per wagen (2 inzittenden). Per extra passagier wordt 50€ gevraagd. Op 8 en 9 oktober krijgen we in Hoei de eerste editie van een nieuw evenement dat volledig gewijd is aan Porsche. Omdat zowel een snelheidsrally, een regularity-wedstrijd, ”een toeristische rit en codriving op het programma staan, zal iedereen – Belg of buitenlander – er zijn passie voor het Duitse merk kunnen beleven.
In ons collectief geheugen is Porsche, één van de twee of drie merken, die we citeren omdat ze onlosmakelijk verbonden zijn met sportwagens en autosport.
Het idee om hier een rally-evenement rond te organiseren (in tegenstelling tot de talrijke mogelijkheden die op het circuit aangeboden worden) broedde al enkele jaren in de hoofden van twee vrienden. Maar toen ze een tijd geleden iemand tegenkwamen die erg aandachtig luisterde naar hun voorstel, werd het een trigger die via een sneeuwbaleffect in korte tijd nog meer enthousiastelingen uit de autosport lokte. Geleid door bekende persoonlijkheden zoals Yves Matton en Jean-Marc Fortin besloot men om de krachten te bundelen en het 100% nieuwe en originele concept met vier varianten te lanceren.
“We willen alle Porsche-enthousiastelingen aanspreken, ook de buitenlanders want het zal een “open” event zijn, waarop alle Porsches welkom zijn. Kortom van de 356 tot de 992 via de 914, de modellen met de motor voorin, het maakt zelfs niet uit of het gaat over een race of een gewone serieversie.” vertelt projectleider Julien Frère “Het is de bedoeling om hen allemaal de mogelijkheid te bieden zich uit te leven op een manier die voor elk van hen het meest geschikt is. Sommigen zullen de voorkeur geven aan een authentieke snelheidsrally, georganiseerd in samenwerking met het NEW Racing-Team, anderen zullen zich inschrijven voor de regelmatigheidstest, georganiseerd door één van de specialisten van die discipline : Yves Noelanders. Diegenen die niet over een race-versie beschikken hebben de keuze tussen een toeristische rit of codriving, hetgeen bovendien een perfecte gelegenheid zal bieden een goede daad te stellen voor een liefdadigheidsactie of vereniging.”
“Dit project, made in Hoei is ongetwijfeld een schot in de roos. Ik was meteen verleid toen Julien me eroververtelde, legt Yves Matton het beroemde ”luisterend oor” uit. “Iedereen weet dat ik me wil engageren voor mijn regio en Rally 4 Porsche – Hoei kwam op het juiste moment. Ik contacteerde meteen enkele vrienden en die waren eveneens erg enthousiast en omdat ook de stad Hoei bereid was ons te steunen en het zenuwcentrum van dit event te worden, is het aan ons om een perfecte samenwerking met de bewoners te garanderen.
Het moeilijkste was uiteindelijk een gepaste datum te vinden. “We zijn pas enkele weken bezig met dit project en uiteraard moeten er regels en deadlines gerespecteerd worden. Bovendien is er ook nog steeds de nasleep van de pandemie. Door de al erg drukke kalenders is er voor deze eerste editie uitzonderlijk gekozen voor 8 en 9 oktober, maar volgend jaar is het de bedoeling om te verschuiven naar het voorjaar of de zomer. specificeert de voormalige rally-directeur van de FIA voordat hij nog toevoegt “Tot slot wil ik nog opmerken dat ons event op geen enkele manier het Belgisch-of het ASAF-kampioenschap zal beïnvloeden waarvoor het ingeschreven is. Ik maak trouwens van de gelegenheid gebruik om al die mensen en organisatoren te bedanken voor het warme onthaal waarmee ze ons ontvangen hebben.“
Uiteraard is het momenteel nog een beetje te vroeg om het project in detail te bespreken, maar duidelijk is wel dat er voor de snelheidsrally in de Condroz en Haspengouw tussen de 100 en 120 km aan klassementsproeven op het menu staan en dat de regelmatiheidsproef met VHRS-label (historische sport regelmatigheidsvoertuigen) dezelfde route zal afleggen maar met een gemiddelde snelheid van 50 en 65 km/u. De toeristische rit (op openbare wegen en in strikte naleving van de verkeersregels) neemt de deelnemers mee om de Condroz te ontdekken, zonder er op de rallyproeven te passeren en voorziet tevens een kwaliteitsvolle tussenstop voor de lunch. Idem trouwens voor de liefdadigheids-codriving, waardoor u Hoei en omstreken zal ontdekken. Tot slot ook nog deze leuke precisie : in elk van de vier versies van het evenement is er een kwaliteitsprijs te winnen, telkens gerelateerd aan het thema van de categorie!
Les 8 et 9 octobre, Huy vivra à l’heure de Stuttgart. Durant tout le week-end, la marque Porsche sera omniprésente dans et autour de la cité mosane. Au travers d’un rallye de vitesse et d’une épreuve de régularité qui auront lieu le dimanche. Mais, dès le samedi, c’est une balade qui sera organisée. Pour laquelle les organisateurs ont concocté un menu cinq étoiles !
Compétition, régularité ou balade, il y en aura donc pour tous les goûts, début octobre au départ de Huy. Et si une épreuve de rallye réservée aux Porsche est absolument inédite, on sait déjà que la balade Porsche by R4P marquera les esprits, elle aussi.
Voyez plutôt : après avoir aligné leur belle allemande en épis sur l’Avenue Delchambre et savouré un gourmand petit-déjeuner, les participants s’élanceront librement, à partir de 10h00, pour une première étape d’une centaine de kilomètres qui les mènera du côté de Stavelot, via des voiries en bon état, longeant des vallées soigneusement sélectionnées. Et, après la pause de midi, le retour s’effectuera via le Namurois qui réservera, là aussi, quelques belles surprises, pour une seconde étape d’environ 130 kilomètres.
« On ne va pas tout dévoiler mais l’objectif est que les Porschistes se souviennent vraiment de cette randonnée », entame Romuald Honnay, bien connu pour être à la tête de l’équipe de « la cabane », haut-lieu du rallye du Condroz et, par ailleurs, spécialiste des tracés touristiques. « Nous sommes partis du pré-requis de ne pas les ennuyer avec un parcours compliqué voire difficile. Et il n’y aura pas non plus de jeu-concours ou de questionnaire. Par contre, il y aura un road-book aux petits oignons, un fléché-métré très clair, reprenant également toute une série de points de vue, d’endroits remarquables, d’éléments du patrimoine, etc… où les participants pourront faire une petite halte s’ils le souhaitent. On est clairement sur une vraie balade touristique ! »
Mais la clientèle Porsche est, sans doute plus qu’une autre, composée de vrais passionnés : « Raison pour laquelle la pause de midi se fera à l’Abbaye de Stavelot. Un walking dinner sera proposé à tout le monde ainsi que l’entrée au musée de Spa-Francorchamps qui, comme chacun le sait, est installé dans ces superbes bâtiments. Les participants auront tout le temps d’en profiter avant de repartir pour l’après-midi, l’arrivée à Huy étant prévue pour 18h00 ». Petite précision supplémentaire, ce retour se terminera en empruntant le tracé d’une des spéciales que les concurrents parcourront le lendemain durant le rallye de vitesse !
Une magnifique journée qui pourra se poursuivre, pour celles et ceux qui le souhaitent, en participant à la soirée Porsche 959 qui aura lieu dans les installations de MY Vintage ou au barbecue dînatoire 911 qui se déroulera au centre de Huy.
Cerise sur le gâteau, cet alléchant programme est proposé, tout compris (hormis les soirées), au tarif démocratique de 180 € par voiture (2 occupants). Dans l’inconscient collectif, la marque Porsche est l’une des deux ou trois citées en priorité dès lors qu’on parle de véhicule sportif ou de compétition automobile.
L’idée de lui consacrer une épreuve routière (par opposition aux multiples meetings proposés sur circuit) est restée en gestation… quelques années dans la tête de deux amis, jusqu’à croiser une oreille attentive, véritable élément déclencheur. L’effet boule de neige fut immédiat et, en peu de temps, c’est une série de passionnés, tous impliqués en sport automobile et emmenés par des personnalités réputées comme Yves Matton et Jean-Marc Fortin, qui ont décidé d’unir leurs forces pour lancer un concept, si pas inédit, tout au moins 100 % original dans sa – quadruple – déclinaison.
« On a souhaité s’adresser à tous les Porschistes, y compris les étrangers puisque l’épreuve sera Open, et accueillir toutes les Porsche, de la 356 à la 992 en passant par la 914 et les modèles à moteur avant, qu’elles soient préparées pour la course ou de série, » entame Julien Frère, gestionnaire du projet. « Et leur offrir la possibilité de s’exprimer dans une épreuve routière de la manière la plus appropriée pour chacun. Les uns préféreront un authentique rallye de vitesse, organisé en collaboration avec l’écurie NEW Racing ; d’autres s’inscriront dans l’épreuve de régularité organisée par l’un des maîtres en la matière, Yves Noelanders, tandis que ceux qui n’ont pas de véhicule préparé auront le choix entre une balade touristique ou le codriving qui sera une occasion parfaite d’accomplir une bonne action vis-à-vis d’une association caritative. »
Le projet a littéralement « fait mouche » du côté de Huy : « dès que Julien m’en a parlé, j’ai été séduit », explique Yves Matton, la fameuse « oreille attentive » ! « Personne n’ignore que je souhaitais m’investir dans « ma » région. Ce Rally 4 Porsche – Huy est arrivé pile au bon moment. J’ai contacté plusieurs amis qui se sont tous montrés emballés et, surtout, la ville de Huy a décidé de nous apporter son soutien en acceptant d’accueillir le centre névralgique de l’épreuve, à charge pour nous de veiller à une parfaite collaboration avec les riverains »
Finalement, le plus compliqué a été de trouver une date ! « Il n’y a que quelques semaines que nous discutons du projet. Il y a des réglementations à suivre et des délais à respecter. Les suites de la pandémie sont toujours bien là aussi. Avec des calendriers déjà très chargés, la date des 8 et 9 octobre est exceptionnelle pour que cette première édition puisse avoir lieu cette année. Mais les prochaines auront lieu plus tôt dans l’année, au printemps ou durant l’été », précise encore l’ex-directeur des rallyes à la FIA avant d’ajouter : « Cela dit, nous avons fait en sorte que notre épreuve n’interfère en rien ni sur le championnat de Belgique ni sur le championnat Asaf où elle est inscrite. J’en profite d’ailleurs pour remercier ses membres comme ses organisateurs pour le bon accueil qui nous a été réservé ! »
S’il est encore un peu tôt pour détailler le menu, sachez que le rallye de vitesse devrait proposer entre 100 et 120 km de spéciales tracées dans le Condroz et en Hesbaye ; que l’épreuve de régularité, au label VHRS (véhicules historiques de régularité sportive), empruntera le même parcours mais avec des moyennes de 50 et 65 km/h ; que la balade (sur routes ouvertes et dans le strict respect du code de la route) emmènera les participants à la découverte du Condroz sans emprunter les spéciales du rallye et avec une halte de qualité le midi tandis que le codriving caritatif permettra de découvrir la région hutoise. Dernière précision, dans chacune des quatre déclinaisons de l’épreuve, il y aura un prix de qualité à remporter, chaque fois en rapport avec la thématique de la catégorie.
