Press Accreditation requirements

Press accreditation is granted on the basis of a number of very strict criteria.

Press accreditation is only granted to journalists who are employed by a media organisation and derive their income from this activity. This applies to all journalists working for the written press (including online media), radio and television, camera crews and press photographers.

This accreditation is a tool that enables them to carry out their work professionally.

Under no circumstances does it grant free entry.

How to obtain

  1. Holders of an official press card issued by the Belgian SPF Intérieur/FOD Binnenlandse Zaken are automatically granted access.
  2. Journalists who do not have an official press card but who submit a request and have a mandate from a media outlet with a mission order signed by their editor-in-chief are accredited under certain conditions. This applies to:
  • Recognised audiovisual media (national radio stations, regional and national TV stations)
  • Local radio stations if their coverage area is within a 30 km radius of the route.
  • Print media with sufficient circulation (daily newspapers, magazines, door-to-door publications)
  • Electronic media active in the motor sports sector and able to demonstrate a sufficient number of unique daily visitors – independent visitor statistics must be provided. To obtain accreditation on behalf of a website, articles published on the websites in question must not be limited to a simple interpretation of the results. At least 50% of the articles published must have been written by members of the editorial staff and not simply be press releases.

They must contain at least a presentation of the event they are going to cover.

Personal BLOGS and Facebook pages are not accepted.

  • Photographers affiliated with a recognised professional association who can provide proof of professional insurance may obtain accreditation on condition that they are working on behalf of a media outlet.
  • Journalists or photographers working for a national or international press agency (Belga, AFP, Photonews, Reuters, etc.) may obtain accreditation on condition that they can present a press pass.
  • Photographers or press officers commissioned by a series, championship or organiser may obtain accreditation on presentation of a press pass.

EXCLUSIONS: The following are excluded in all cases

  1. Amateur photographers
  2. Photographers working solely for websites
  3. Contributors to websites for drivers, co-drivers or teams
  4. Contributors and photographers for photo websites.
